Ingredients

Slow cooker ham and glaze
  • 1 fully cooked bone-in spiral-sliced ham 7-8 pounds
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple rings reserve the juice
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • maraschino cherries for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Method

Load the slow cooker
  1. Place the ham flat-side down in a large slow cooker, trimming if needed for the lid to close.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and keep it ready while you make the glaze.
Make and apply the glaze
  1. Whisk 1/2 cup reserved pineapple juice with brown sugar, honey, Dijon, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Pour half the glaze over the ham, working it between the slices so it coats the cut surfaces.
Top and cook
  1. Arrange pineapple rings over the ham and secure with toothpicks, placing a maraschino cherry in each center.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, until the ham is heated through to 140°F (visual cue: glaze looks glossy and pineapple rings appear slightly caramelized).
Finish and serve
  1. Spoon the slow-cooker juices over the ham along with the remaining glaze (visual cue: thick, sticky coating clings to the slices).
  2. Serve warm.

Notes

Pro tip: If your ham is tall, pack the pineapple rings tightly and keep the toothpicks secure so the topping doesn’t shift during the slow cook. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container for up to 3 days; freeze glazed ham for up to 2 months. For a lighter option, replace honey with maple syrup and use a light brown sugar instead of packed brown sugar (texture stays saucy).
