Ingredients

Salted butter
  • 1 cup salted butter Softened to room temperature for easy swooshing.
Honey
  • 2 tbsp honey
Dried cranberries
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries, chopped
Pistachios
  • 0.25 cup pistachios, chopped
Orange zest
  • 1 tsp orange zest
Fresh rosemary
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
Flaky sea salt
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt
Red pepper flakes
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
Baguette or crusty sourdough
  • 1 baguette or crusty sourdough, torn or sliced Use torn pieces or slices for swiping.

Method

Make the butter board
  1. Spread softened salted butter across a wooden board with the back of a spoon, making swooshes and swirls.
  2. Drizzle honey over the butter in thin ribbons.
  3. Scatter dried cranberries, pistachios, orange zest, and finely chopped rosemary evenly on top.
  4. Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes for a sweet-heat finish.
  5. Serve immediately with torn or sliced baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping.

Notes

For the cleanest swooshes, start with salted butter at true room temperature (it should spread easily without tearing). Keep the board assembled only briefly at cool room temperature, then refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container up to 3 days; re-swipe will be best if butter is warmed slightly. Freezing is not recommended because the toppings may soften after thawing. For a dairy-light option, use a plant-based butter stick that is designed to soften like regular butter.
